Professional Referrals
Working as a team.
A responsive psychiatry partner for collaborative care.
I welcome referrals from therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals seeking thoughtful, relationship-based psychiatric care for adults in the San Francisco Bay Area and throughout California.
My practice is particularly well suited to people who value a comprehensive evaluation, shared decision-making, and treatment tailored to their individual circumstances rather than brief or highly standardized medication management.
When I may be a helpful referral
Consider contacting me when your patient or client:
Is engaged in psychotherapy and would benefit from psychiatric diagnostic clarification or medication consultation
Needs ongoing medication management that complements an established therapeutic relationship
Is experiencing depression, bipolar-spectrum symptoms, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, attention or concentration difficulties, insomnia, burnout, or distress related to a major life transition
Has had an incomplete response to prior treatment or difficulty tolerating psychiatric medication
Would like to thoughtfully reduce or discontinue a psychiatric medication
Is interested in integrating psychotherapy, medication, lifestyle interventions, nutrition, or complementary approaches
Would benefit from LGBTQ+-affirming and culturally responsive psychiatric care
Prefers a private-pay practice offering longer appointments, continuity, and direct physician communication
I work with adults aged 18 and older. I do not perform forensic, disability, workers’ compensation, or other third-party evaluations, and my practice is not equipped to provide emergency or intensive outpatient care.
Collaborative and split treatment
I value the therapeutic relationship that you have already developed with your patient or client. When working in a split-treatment arrangement, my aim is to strengthen that work—not duplicate or displace it.
With the patient’s permission, I communicate directly with referring clinicians when doing so will improve diagnostic understanding, clarify treatment roles, or support continuity of care. I strive to provide clear recommendations, respond promptly to clinically important questions, and keep you informed when significant treatment changes affect our shared work.
The degree and frequency of communication can be tailored to the clinical situation and to our respective roles.
My clinical approach
My work integrates biological, psychological, and social perspectives. Treatment may include:
Comprehensive psychiatric assessment and diagnostic clarification
Medication initiation, adjustment, monitoring, or tapering
Psychodynamic and insight-oriented psychotherapy (when not already in treatment)
Evidence-informed lifestyle and behavioral interventions
Discussion of supplements, nutrition, and complementary approaches
Evaluation of whether newer interventions or specialty consultation may be appropriate
Medication is one useful tool among many. I prescribe when I believe the expected benefits justify the risks and when the treatment aligns with the patient’s goals.
Practice information
I see adults in person at my office in the West Portal neighborhood of San Francisco and through telehealth when the patient is physically located in California.
The practice is out of network with commercial insurance plans. Patients pay directly for services and may request superbills to seek reimbursement through applicable out-of-network benefits. I am enrolled as a non-participating physician with Original Medicare Part B and maintain limited availability for Medicare patients.
Discussing a potential referral
New referring professionals are encouraged to contact me directly before sending a patient. A brief conversation allows us to assess whether my practice is likely to be an appropriate fit and to discuss how we might work together.
Please contact me by telephone or email without including protected health information. I am also glad to arrange an introductory call with colleagues interested in developing an ongoing referral relationship.
